Lily Canter is an NCE qualified journalist who has 10 years experience writing for regional newspapers, national websites and international magazines. She has interviewed top British politicians, businessmen and academics plus Hollywood celebrities. Assignments abroad have taken Lily to Bosnia, Vietnam, Ghana and the USA.

Newspapers

Lily Canter worked full time for the daily newspaper the Northampton Chronicle & Echo for five years as a health reporter, news desk assistant and three years as features editor.

Whilst running the features department she was responsible for managing a team of writers, co-ordinating photographers and liaising with designers.

She also produced entertainment and special edition supplements, wrote news investigations, consumer articles, lifestyle content, travel pieces, health reports and film, theatre, food and music reviews.

Prior to working in Northampton Lily trained as a journalist at the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald.

She has also written commissioned pieces for The Sun, Bath Chronicle, Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, Sheffield Star and Nuneaton News.

Magazines

Image magazine, NME, Scoop, Third Sector and Heritage are some of the publications featuring Lily's articles.

These cover a range of subjects including the death of a musician, interviews with film and TV celebrities, travel articles and a special feature on getting married in Vietnam which was translated into Vietnamese for Vietnam Airlines.

Lily is currently co-ordinating the launch of a new British cinematography magazine and website for the historic British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society (BKSTS). She is also a regular contributor to Scoop film magazine and website writing about her role as a film critic and chair of independent film festival Film Northants.

Lily has had a number of photographs published in magazines and newspapers, including images of breaking news stories and photos to compliment travel articles and features (see below).

Websites

With training in photography and video production as well as news and feature writing, Lily has provided multimedia journalism content for a number of websites including Northampton Chronicle & Echo and the BBC.

Lily was one of the first journalists to be trained in video production at Johnston Press and immediately used her multimedia skills in Ghana to produce a series of features including video, text and photographic content.

She has also created and designed websites for Northampton furniture business The Art of Wood and film festival Film Northants.

Lily also manages a number of social media accounts for organisations including the International Academy of Investigative Psychology, Film Northants and The Art of Wood.
